Stoles
A stole is a type of a scarf or shawl that is worn around the neck for aesthetic and ceremonial purposes as well as to complement the academic regalia. The vestment is composed of a material strip that has a width of about two to four inches and a length of about eighty inches. Stoles can have a uniform width or tend to be narrower at the middle and wider at the ends, which will form the shape of a spade or a trapezium. Traditionally,

Many stoles are worn during ceremonies such as beauty pageants where they are used to identify the beauty queens by their countries or the group of people they represent. They are also used in graduation ceremonies. In graduation ceremonies the stole is worn alongside a gown and a cap which is the complete traditional graduation regalia. One can purchase a stole bearing any color or multiple colors according to their requirements. For graduation stoles, the academic institution from which one is graduating may dictate the color of stole that graduates will wear during the graduation ceremony.
