Iron Man Star Hurts Neck while Filming
August 24th, 2009The Hollywood star – who plays Natasha Romanoff and her sexy alter-ego, Russian spy Black Widow, in the new superhero movie – strained her muscles while shooting an energetic fight scene.
She explained: “I had such a great stunt team who were unbelievably supportive. They were like: ‘You can do it! Go!’ And you have to believe you can do it and that’s when it works.
“I have to say though, I’ll probably never be able to turn my neck to the left again.”
Scarlett, 24, previously revealed she really enjoyed the physical aspects involved in her role.
She said: “I’ve never done anything like that before – especially the physical side of the stunt work. I’d never been able to challenge myself in that way so that was exciting – something new. And it used up aggression too!”
‘Iron Man 2′ – which also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Mickey Rourke and Robert Downey Jr. – is due for release next May.
Despite her injuries, Scarlett, 24, recently revealed she’s keen to star in an Iron Man spin-off. With sales of the Iron Man dvds continuing to sell well, the chance that there will be a further sequel to the Iron Man movies looks likley.
“I hope I get to come back and do it again,” she said. “The character certainly comes back. We see that she does in the comics and certainly she is a part of The Avengers.
“I don’t know if that is where it’s going to go but she is definitely a big part of The Avengers and she has many different incarnations and different storylines so I’m hoping she will be able to continue in that way.
“I’m hoping that if the fans like the character and support the character, we’ll see her again.”
